FInally She Knew

She searched and she searched
but she could not find God
Buddha’s temple, Christ’s church
Mohammad’s mosque, Krishna’s garden
They all left a fragrant trail
that kept her searching and searching
But still she could not find God

She looked within
finding a myriad of intriguing things
Kept her amused for years
And still God eluded her

She read the books
listened to the great masters’ words
She prayed
Still nothing
Failure haunted her in her search for the Divine
Could so many find God but not her?

Finally she stopped
She was still
And she found it
it was right there beside her, singing
celebrating with her in laughter
loving her through her children’s eyes
lying with her as she bathed
feasting with her at her table

And finally she knew
