Some of my writing has changed recently. Instead of focusing on our inner lives and how we relate to each other, I have found myself writing about things that I notice in the world outside. These are reflections on the way we live in our western society, politics and our relationship to the natural world.
My other writing is written to comfort and inspire. The tone of this writing feels different. These topics can be more provocative and uncomfortable.

Commenting on these issues actually feels more vulnerable than writing about more personal topics.
THE SMALL WORLD IS ENOUGH
A dusk walk along the still wild shore
after days of storm
and these shaky isles
A NOBLE VIRTUE
We honour ANZAC day
We remember the wartime dead
not only because of their courage
ON EVERY ACCOUNT
The planet’s going bankrupt
with banks still full of pretend wealth
It’s business as usual
STEALING MY MORNING
It’s the morning light that teaches me gratitude
everything just as I left it
waiting, fresh and familiar
FOR DEAR LIFE
Don’t teach our children that
they can do anything, everything
stop teaching them about success
IT'S NOT
Thinner than the skin of an apple
thinner even than the dust on the shelf
Between the enormity
MY BIG CARBON BOOTS
NOT EVEN A SANDCASTLE
I want to stand on the beach
and see this landscape as it once was
No tall neat piles of stones
